I came across these 'retro poster designs' and couldn't help but noticed blatant pastiche and simulation. Everything about these poster's aesthetics are burrowed from stereotypical surfaces associated with the 1980s. What I find interesting is that the first poster, which is for a film that was released in the 1990s is so blatantly referencing the 1980s. This to me creates a sense of visual confusion and is definitely a manifestation of simulacrum. The colour, type and pattern of both posters is not really retro at all, because it doesn't feel authentic. It feels as if it is contrived and not coming from a place of genuine originality. It'a almost pointless, because there is nothing more to it other than burrow surface aesthetic.
